Icon Help!
I recently reinstalled Word 2003 and all of my .doc Word icons are messed up and not the ones usually installed with 2003, and the only thing I can think of is that I also uninstalled a theme manager program the same time.
How do I make/set the .doc icons back to the regular thumbnails image instead of a really generic lookin one? they look like the icon used for notepad/wordpad instead of the nice blue ones used for Word 2003 Please help |

Open Windows Explorer, select the menu "Tools | Folder Options", go to the tab "File Types", locate the file type ".doc", then click the button "Advanced", then click "Change Icon..." and input the Word icon file path.
The Word icon file on my computer is "C:\WINNT\Installer\{90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}\wordicon.exe" You should change it accordingly. |

The file path is different on different computers.
Try searching "wordicon.exe" under "C\Windows". |

Hey are you still fighting this problem? I have almost the exact same issue with an Office 2K installation. I can tell you that none of the suggestion I have rec'd on like five different forums have worked, the suggestion above being one of them. I'd REALLY like to hear if you have figured this out!
BUT...the reason you are not seeing the files you are looking for is because your view settings are not allowing you to see hidden and system files. Open Windows explorer and go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab and look for the box "Show hidden files and folders". Also check the box for "Display the contents of system folders". Then you should be able to see the files you are looking for. If you don't have this set up the Search function will not display them. Also WINNT is a folder that exists only in Windows NT or 2000. You have XP and the system folder is c:\windows\system32 |
