Default Computer Trying To Use MO 2016 - I Have MO 2010

When I purchased my computer, it had a trial version of Microsoft Office 2016 that would require a subscription. It did not include Microsoft Access, which I needed, plus I do not want to pay for a subscription that stops working if you do not pay.

I bought an older version of Microsoft Office 2010 that has everything I need, AND is a standaline product.

The problem is that every time I use the computer and click on the file name, it automatically accesses the Microsoft Office 2016 which does not work.

How can I completely remove the trial version from my compute without screwing everything up? If it is hard to remove, how can I just leave the trial version on the computer and point the applications to the 2010 version?

Thanks!

Provided you have access to the 2010 media and its product key, for emergencies, you should be able to simply uninstall the trial version without affecting 2010, as they occupy different spaces, though they share some resources. It will then be necessary to repair 2010 in order to reset the links you refer to.

You can probably leave it in place and re-register 2016 (see Use different Word versions together ) but the chances are that updates will reclaim the settings for the later version.

I finally got it, but it was not as easy as that. I had to reassign file extensions as they automatically came back as Microsoft Office files, instead of the Word, Excel, Access, etc. But it was not to bad, thank you for the help! I wanted to do this for a while now.
