Default MS Office Purchase.. Trusted Websites

I have on my Dell computer MS Office 2010. I am using Windows 7 64 bit.
A pop up says I need a Product Key. After surfing the Internet for
buying a MS Office Package (Office 2010, 2016)... I am at a loss on
what Internet website I can trust. Can you recommend several websites,
retail stores etc. And perhaps I can just purchase a Product Key.

A prompt reply will be helpful. Thanks for your help.

Sy

Where & when did you get Office 2010? The Office package can be downloaded for free, but you need a Product Key to use it to create, print & save files for more than one month.

Hello,
I have decided to purchase Office 365 Personal (1 person, 12 month subscription, PC/Mac) for my PC Windows 7 Pro; Best Guy $72 (NYC).
Today I went to office.com/setup... to start the set up.
I get a pop up >>> Error Code..
A live chat pop up screen person sent me to tech support.

Tech support person tried to install the software, which took time
(and after a few hours with him off line it was successful). The error message
was that I have a Zeus Malware problem via the internet
(and my Total AV software did not detect this, just AV protection). He will correct
and remove all... but will cost me $99 senior discount (for life protection of my computer).
In the meantime PayPay rejected my credit card (three times,
I called Citi Card and they said there was nothing wrong with my card).

The tech person will call me tomorrow to finalize this installation.
I also questioned who he was and the Internet protection he was offering.
He said it was a third party CA7UAL ? and they use Herbert Weiser software/network?
Finally, he created a Google separate account (with my name), if there is a problem with the new internet protection he will be noticed and correct??? And so far no email to my AOL account on the statue and who he is (Use a bill from Paypay).

All this goes back to WHO CAN I TRUST ON THE INTERNET? Can I trust this person
and is it an authorized Microsoft tech person??? If any one has something to add, that would certainly help... I wait for the tech person to call me tomorrow.

Thanks for anyone who replies,

Sy

Whoever the 'tech support person' is, this sounds like a scam. There is no need for anyone - repeat anyone - to access your computer to install MS Office. The Zeus Malware is quite old and any moderately competent AV software would have long since dealt with it. In fact, the Zeus is used to "trick victims of technical support scams into giving the scam artists money through pop-up messages that claim the user has a virus, when in reality they might have no viruses at all" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeus_(malware)). So it's quite possible your 'tech support person' is responsible for this. As for Microsoft vis-à-vis CA7UAL, let's just say Microsoft uses neither CA7UAL nor the Herbert Weiser software/network (whatever that is). I have no idea who Best Guy is - a web search returns nothing I can see of relevance.

Thanks Paul for your important reply!

BEST BUY is a retail Electronics Chain located throughout the USA. The walk-in Best Buy I used was in NYC (to buy MS Office 365 Personal).

The tech support person sent me an email for their Invoice via PayPay, the name was GREAT WEB SOLUTIONS updated invoice $99.99 USD due 20 May 2019.
In out conversation he said he was from Deli India... the above website shows they are from Deli India. He also added a new gmail account with my name and also accessed by him (for any future Internet monitoring for malware etc, $99 yr/lifetime).

I just phoned PayPay and confirmed my older account and using a credit card. Then I updated my email address and a new password. They said that the GREAT WEB SOLUTIONS Invoice was cancelled ($99). Further I will cancel my new gmail address in the near future (created by the tech person).

Next week I will go back to my Hard Drive which now has MS365 Personal installed. And will have to see how to get the older version of MS OFFICE 2010 uninstalled and no more pop up asking for a Product Key. I guess I will call MS Office again "setup"??? for this? Or maybe within the forum I can learn how to do this.

In the interim thank you very much for your help... and also hope not to get a phone call or email from the tech person I first talked to.

A Late Happy Holiday to you and weekend,

Sy S.
from NYC

OK, I'm aware of Best Buy, but your previous post referred to Best Guy.

Office 2010 should have been uninstalled when Office 365 was installed. If that doesn't happen automatically, I'd have expected the 'tech support person' to organise that before installing Office 365. If Office 2010 is still installed, you can uninstall it via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (edition) 2010 > Uninstall.

Default Uninstalled MS Office Plus 2010

Hello Paul,

Went to Control Panel and successfully uninstalled "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010". The newly installed "Office 365 Personal" appears to be working fine...

Thanks,

Sy S.

Final Word,

In order to protect myself from a possible scam from the technical person who I communicated with (via live chat)... I had to create 8 new email passwords I use on my hard drive. I had to close two credit cards (got spam alerts) and waiting for new cards. Again, I do not know if that person was?? working for Miscrosoft (or an Agent?).

Further, I have now updated all the Office 365 software and all working fine.

Thanks again,

Sy
