Default Adding Title and Tag to the context screen

I want the Title and/or the tag for the file to show up in the context window that pops up when I hover over the file (see attached). I have gone into File and added what I want to show up, saved the file, closed the window and opened it again. Neither shows up. Is there a control for this?

With your Excel file open, go to File > Save As > Navigate to the save location > Add the required details underneath the ‘Save as type’ field > Save.

Locate the saved file and hover the mouse over the file for a comparison.

Still won't show up. I've refreshed, closed and opened the window. I don't know if it matters, but the file is on network drive.

Check this setting in the Registry:

Open The Registry Editor (type regedit into the Search Bar and press the Enter key, then click ‘Yes’ on the UAC box if it shows.
Navigate to:

Code:
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.xlsx
When you have located the entry, click it and look in the right pane for the Info Tip entry.
D/click and it should show this:

Code:
prop:Type;DocAuthor;DocTitle;DocSubject;DocComments;Size;Write

If any of this is missing, copy what is showing above and paste it into the ‘Value data’ field.
Check the mouse hover now.

I tested it on my system and when I remove the author and title, it doesn’t show in the mouse hover (pop-up).

Warning – you should always Backup the Registry first if any changes are made

Thanks for your response Moonshine. I went to that location, and the it reads exactly as your post. Is that a control maybe for what fields show up for input when you "Save As"?

AFAIK, the ‘Info Tip’ value data entry holds the information that can be shown, in that particular file extension, when the mouse is hovered over the file (pop-up).

The pop-up is activated via File Explorer Options.
Your system must have this already ‘checked’ – if it wasn’t, no po-up at all would show.
Lets try reset it.
Type: File Explorer Options in the Taskbar Search Bar and then press the Enter key.
In the opening dialog box, click the View tab, then scroll down to Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items.
Un-check > OK > Restart system.
Go back into Folder Options and reverse what you have just done so it is re-checked > OK, then check for a comparison on the mouse over.

That seemed to do the trick, after restarts after each change of the File options, but doesn't work on the shared drive files. Do you think there is a restriction by the system admin? It allows me to add to that field, and it is there when I re-open the shared file, but no display. Thanks

Unfortunately I don't know about any potential restrictions set by the system admin.
Sorry I can't help any further.
Cheers.

I've never paid attention to these fields. Just tried it and it worked perfectly. Thanks!
