Default Office is slow to open in ONE of my windows profiles.

Hello

In ONE of my Windows user profiles, both Excel and Word take up to 30 seconds to open. Whereas in my newly created Windows user profile, each of them will open in just 3 seconds.

Nothing else is slow!

HISTORY
I have completely uninstalled and re-installed MS Office (365 - Business). Microsoft Support helped me. I even their used a special tool to remove all previous traces of MS Office.

I even tried completely uninstalling my anti-virus software (BitDefender) from my computer and rebooting.

But still both no change. Both Excel and Word still take 10 to 30 seconds to open.

HARDWARE
I have fast up-to-date hardware with lots of disk space. e.g.:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-7600K Kaby Lake CPU, 4 Cores, 3.8-4.0GHz
- Hard drive: 512GB Samsung 960 M.2 SSD, with 300GB of free space
- Motherboard: Asus PRIME Z270-A
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 3000MHz
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
- Age 1.5 years

This is all deeply irritating. Having bought a decent spec of PC it is deeply irritating that Office takes so long to open. The problem with using a new windows profile is that I will lose all my settings both windows and in all my applications -- something which took me literally months to set up!

Microsoft Office Support seem unable to help.

- Any suggestions?

J

Your description suggests the problem is with the Windows profile; uninstalling/reinstalling Office, etc., won't resolve that. You might try deleting then recreating the account concerned (back up the user files first, though).

I tried uninstalling / re-installing and yes it made no difference.

Except that a couple of days later for absolutely no reason whatsoever, Excel started opening fast.

Microsoft software. Don't cha just love it
