Excel Link in word
I want to link the cells of a table with excel. Is it possible? From word help I find the following example to link. But it is not working.
" {Link Excel.Sheet.1”C:\MYDocuments\Myexamples.xls””Sheet 1!R1C1:R4C4”\a\p}" N.B. If I insert excel in a document, will it be possible to link with a excel sheet? |

Embed Excel Link in Word 2003
To Insert a linked object or embedded object from an Excel file into Word, please follow the instructions below.
1. Open both the Word document and the Excel worksheet that contains the data that you want to create a linked object or embedded object from. 2. Switch to Excel, and then select the entire worksheet, a range of cells, or the chart that you want. 3. Press CTRL+C to Copy. 4. Switch to the Word document, and then click where you want the information to appear. 5. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the arrow under Paste, and then click Paste Special. 6. In the As list, select Microsoft Office Excel object. 7. Click Paste to insert an embedded object, or click Paste link to insert a link to the object. Hope this helps. |

Apologies to be re-opening this thread after such a long time but I do have a similar but not the same issue. My company is currently using software (made by Rivet) that creates a link between Excel and Word. However, when we insert the linked tables in word, they are created as Word Tables versus pictures (what happens when you paste special). What this means is that we can run a redline from the prior document and if any numbers have changed in the table, only those changes will be redlined. This is as opposed to a linked table in word which will simply identify that a change was made to the table, delete the picture of the table, and then add the new one.
Does anybody know if this is possible in Word to do the same thing or any other software options like this? Thanks! |

When you paste an Excel link in Word, the paste Special dropdown gives you a number of paste format options. Simply choose the paste format that best suits your needs.
