Microsoft Office 2016 Desktop and Laptop
Hello This might seem abit of a stupid question, but I bought Office 2016 1PC It works perfectly on Desktop I activated the key to my Microsoft account that I also use to log into my Laptop. Do I still need to buy another key even if the PC and Laptop use the same log in email? Thanks |

Check your end-user licence agreement. It will tell you how many devices you can install the application on.

I have a question regarding frequently transfering a perpetual licence between two PC's.
Transfering a licence to another PC is possible, while deactivating it on the first and then activate it on the second. I can not find any information about any limitations regarding this transfer. How often can you do that? In my example I'd like to use a 2016 Home and Student licence mainly on my Desktop. Sometimes maybe switch for a couple of days to my Laptop (when beeing on holidays) and then back to the Desktop... Would that be possible? And how often? |

You cannot 'deactivate' an Office installation. Uninstalling doesn't take away from the fact it's been activated on that PC.
In any event, what you're suggesting seems contrary to the intent of the EULA and you may find that, when MS realises what you're doing, they'll treat it as an attempt to circumvent the EULA and invalidating the product key entirely.

I have just seen that it is possible to deactivate office within the microsoft account in order to transfer it to another computer. But when this process is meant to be just an "Exception" and contrary to the EULA... (i still can not find any official terms about this transfer...), than i guess it won't be possible to do this frequently.
It is really a shame, because i really would just need the office installtion once in a while for a short time on my laptop. Maybe once a year for a couple of days and would never need both installations at the same time. I really don't feel like buying an own license for this case... |
