Upgrading from office 2007 to office 2016
Hello, im using microsoft office 2007 and wish to migrate to office 2016. I have many excel and word files in office 2007 and after installing office 2016 i need to open my 2007 word and excel files in 2016....can i open it directly or do i need to convert 2007 office files to office 2016?
Please advise |

I made the same change 2 months ago. So long as you uninstall the older Office, your newer version will open older files just fine. Some fairly old files (if you had earlier versions before the 2007 install) may require minor readjustments of formatting but the files will open just fine.

Why is that a problem? The behaviour is 'by design'. For files saved in the older .doc & .xls formats, for example, it gives you a visual que as to the file format; it has nothing to do with whether Office 2016 can open, edit, or save such files.

It’s not a problem though it would be nice if I had excel 2016 icon
