Default Office Problems

I've got few machines with few versions/editions of Office installed

2 machines with Office 2016 Pro
2 machines with Office 2013 Pro
2 machines with Office 2016 Home & Business
2 machines with Office 2016 365

But I only use Outlook for my hotmail account on 2 machines, one Outlook 2016 and one Outlook 2016 for Home and Business.

My problem now: I can't use Outlook on both (I can use safe mode only) the message is

Microsoft Outlook has stopped working

A Problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available

When trying to repair Outlook 2016 on one machine, system asks me to re-install Office 2016 Home and Business which is wrong, this machine has Office 2016 Pro installed around August 2016 as shown

I bought a new machine in March 2018 and installed Office 2016 Home and Business did not know it has Office 2016 365 pre-installed (I think trial version). Now my question

(a) Why Microsoft did not get the right product for my right machine,

(b) Can I uninstall trial version and this won't effect my installed version ? How

Regards.

Your screenshot doesn't show Office 2016 Home and Business - it shows Office 2016 Professional Plus. So I can't see what 'right product' the fuss is.

As for the trial version of Office 2016 365, there's no evidence from anything you've posted that evidences its presence. In any event, Office 365 and the single-install Office 2016 cannot coexist on the same PC.

Hi,

Many thanks for the quick reply. Sorry I did not make it clearer. I've got few machines but I only use Outlook on 2 machines, one with Office 2016 Plus Pro and one with Office 2016 Home and Business and I have SAME problem on both machines using my hotmail email

1. When trying to repair Outlook on the first one, system wants me to re-install Office but only allows me to re-install Office Home and Business which is wrong because the first machine has Office 2016 Pro plus - images are from the first computer.

2. Now, the second question: can I uninstall Office 365. I've got BOTH of them as shown. I actually bought the Office Home and Business at Microsoft store in Seattle

All I need now: (a) I can use Outlook normally, not in safe mode and (b) Remove Office 365 trial version from the second machine.

Regards.

Uninstall office 365. Then repair the Office 2016 installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair).

Hi,

Many thanks. But still doesn't work. Looks like Microsoft does not keep information for my Office 2016 Professional Plus.

1. For my second machine, I did remove Office 365 and successfully repair Office Home and Business,

2. For the first machine which is this one. I follow all instructions today and after repair complete, I get back to square one, my Office is NOT activate as hown on attached images and I can ONLY go back to Office Home and Business which is on another machine. How can I get my Office 2016 Professional Plus back on this machine ?

It's possible that the conflict with Office 365 has changed what Windows thinks you had installed for Office 2016. You really should have uninstalled Office 365 before installing Office 2016. I suggest you uninstall the problematic Office 2016, then reinstall Office 2016 Professional Plus.

Hi macropod,

Many thanks for your times. I probably did not make my problem clear enough. Sorry I have to say again:

I have had same problem with Outlook 2016 on 2 (two) machines

1. The first machine with Office 2016 Pro Plus which was installed and activated around August/September 2016.

2. The second machine with Office 2016 Home and Business which was installed and activated around Feb/March 2018. I did not know this machine (brand new) had Office 2016 365 pre-installed (trial).

Follow your instructions I performed Repair for mymachines:

1. For the second machine
:

(a) to Remove Office 2016 365
(b) to Repair Office 2016 Home & Business

This machine is now OK

2. For the first machine: No Office 365 pre-installed: The Repair process took around 40 minutes (I posted screen shots before) and ending up the Office 2016 Pro Plus is now not activated.

Now, how can I get my Office 2016 Pro Plus back. I bought a key for this product on 27/Jul/2016 and also paid for a DVD (rather than download) at the same time.

Can I re-install it now and how to re-activate it ? I know Microsoft will ask me few questions but what is/are the proper answer(s).

Regards.

When you reinstall, simply supply the correct Product Key.

Hi,

I re-installed Office 2016 Professional Plus this morning. I can access to Outlook on first machine now but I've got no idea why and how Office Home and Business came to this machine, may be it came from my Microsoft Account. I'd to remove it but this may also remove on second machine. Is it ok to keep ?

It would be really helpful if you paid attention to the advice you were given:

The fact you now have two Office installations shows you did not do that. Furthermore, your screenshot shows that, despite all you've said, you did not previously have Office 2016 Professional Plus installed on that PC - you only ever had Office 2016 Home and Business installed there.

Hi,

Well,

Today had a chat with our Deployment people who build, deploy, update .... for Windows platform in a company, where I am an employee, at least 150 new units a week. They told me could be my Microsoft account only has information for one machine and it keeps only the last one that why when I ask for repair system only repair one product even on different machine.

Anyway, I know which machine is number 1 and which machine is number 2 and they physically not in a same room.

Many thanks for your help

Regards.
