Default Office 365 application crash on inserting jpg

I have an issue with an HP laptop running Windows 10
AV is McAfee

Office 365 applications (Version 1802 - Build 9029.2167) crash as soon as you try and insert a jpg image into a file (blank document as well)
When you insert png file this does not happen.

They also crash when opening a document that contains jpg images.

I have however opened one of the files that cause the crash on my work PC (exactly same version & build of Office 365) with no issues.

This PC uses AVG as its anti virus program

Any ideas?

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair)?

Yes, tried that last night

I'm baffled as to why PNG formatted pictures don't cause the issue.

Have tried opening one of the Word documents in question on my work PC today - same version of Office 365 (and Windows 10) with no issues

Very frustrating to say the least

I suspect, then, that it's a problem with your Windows installation. Try logging on as an Administrator and running the System File Checker from a command prompt using:
sfc /scannow

Fixed last night

Removed McAfee (replaced for now with a free copy of AVG)

Once that was removed and laptop rebooted everything worked fine

So, does that mean you actually had two anti virus programs installed? That practice is ill-advised and has long been a source of problems.
