Default Office 2010 File Formats

I'd like to start using 2010 while my colleagues are still using 2007. Does 2010 use new file formats? If so, can I explicitly save files in 2007 format?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Microsoft Office 2010 defaults to the docx format. You best bet to make sure your documents are compatible with all versions of Office is to save them as Word 97-2003 documents (many computers still run Office 2003). You'll know if your document is saved in the compatible format because it will end in .doc instead of .docx.

I hope this was helpful.
