Office 2016 and Office365 mingling
I wanted to replace Office 2013 and tried the trial version of Office 365. I uninstalled Office 365 and Office 2013. I then installed Office 2016 Pro + and used my MS account that I have been using all along. Now they somehow co-mingled and I do not know how to get Office 365 out of the Office 2016 install. I did a best effort by cleaning out the previous builds but I believe the mingling comes from using the MS account I used in the beginning for the previous installs?? Question, Can I uninstall and then install 2016 and use a different MS account just for Office that is different from the MS account the computer is using? or any other suggestions that might help with this. Office 365 is just a name for whichever subscription edition of the current Office version is on offer. Thus the current Office 365 is just the subscription edition of Office 2016. As such, in all material respects they use the same version of Outlook. Uninstalling Office 2016 then reinstalling Office 365 (or vice-versa) should allow you to continue using Outlook as before.

Did you uninstall Office 365?

Yes, I did uninstall Office 365 by using the standard method in Control Panel/Programs and Features. At the end of the install, there was a message to reboot my computer while we "tidy things up a bit"
Then within 5 minutes, I also uninstalled Office 2013 with success. Followed that up with a scan of the registry that removed several bits of data relating to Microsoft Office. I believe I did a best effort to remove it. Today, 4/12/17. received an email from Microsoft, stating that the Office 365 Trial has expired, but I could renew etc. Strange to me at least, you don't stop the 365 trial, you select an option to not renew, which I did several weeks ago. Office is still running today without issue (knock knock)! TX for trying to assist me. |
