non techie needs help

Normally I would just ask my daughter but since she has moved out I have to find a new information source.
First I need to change where my documents are saving to conserve the space on my C drive. Can I keep Office installed on C but have it save documents to D? As I use all the programs in the suite information for changing it in all programs would be appreciated.

Next - I keep changing the language on my keyboard (laptop) from english to the french lettering that is written in green on some of the keys and I have no idea how I am doing it. Is this a word "problem" or something to do with my keyboard? See told you I was a non-tech
