Default Read-Only office files problem HELP

Ok, So at my company we run office 2003. When my boss opens powerpoints from the network and saves them to the network. When he tries to re-open the ppt he gets te emessage M:\(name of powerpoint) is being modified by glennk. Do you want to open a read-only copy? The crazy thing is my bosses username is glennk. He is the one that just closed the document.... Any help much appreciated.
