Attempting to install Office 2003 on a new computer
I am a new poster and not sure if this is the appropriate forum. If not, please forgive my ignorance.
I am a long time user (probably 2 decades) of MS Office Pro. Recently my Windows crashed with an electrical outage and took my hard drive with it, but luckily my data was backed up and only lost about a half day of effort. My problem is I would like to reinstall MS Office Pro on my new Windows 10 computer but not necessarily upgrade to the latest MS Office Pro i.e. 365 or some earlier version if necessary. My old operating system was Windows 7. However, since MS does not include a version of Office on new computers, I had to go back to my original pre-97 version that was a full blown copy. I was able to install it (except that Access didn’t load). I then successfully upgraded to Access 2000. When I tried loading 2007, it failed with an exception error. I then tried loading the Ultimate 2007 (as an upgrade). It to failed and although detecting my previous versions and asked to delete them, it got about 80% into the installation, failed and restored most if not all of the installation. I currently have a working copy (2000) of Access or so it seems. However, I am still stuck with a pre 97? version of Word, Excel and Powerpoint. All three can open my current files, but in ready only mode. Even though I can make changes, I cannot save them. Support is not a problem as I have never contacted anyone (MS or otherwise) in more than 20 years, at least until now. I have the Keys for all my upgrades diskettes thru 2007, but am missing the 2003 Access upgrade diskette. Finally my question? What are my best (and legal) options? 1) I could install 365 and continue from ther 2) Attempt to reload my older copies of Office, although I would assume I would just repeat the failures. 3) I found free downloads of Office Pro 2003 online, but don’t know if they are legal and legit without any downsides. 4) In addition, there may be compatibility issues using 2003 with a Windows 10 operating system, anyway. As such am stuck with 2007 or higher. If so, I still need to be able to load 2007. Any suggestions, advice or concerns would be most appreciated. Thank you KRoger |

According to Microsoft, Office 2003 & earlier (all of which are no longer supported) are not compatible with Windows 10.
