Default running really slow

hello
about 20 hours ago Ofice programs (Excell, Word) started running really slow

hardly usable

in excel if I try copying something from it to clipboard it will pause for nearly a minute and then be really slow till I clear the clipboard or refill it from something other then excel data

in word it's really slow responding to my typing
I type something out then sit there wondering if it is all going to get typed or not
and forget what I was thinking

I see yesterday firefox did an update

Have you used the Windows Task Manager to see what processes/apps are running and how much of your CPU resources they're chewing up?

Have you tried re-booting the PC? Do you have any 3rd-party Office addins installed? Have you tried running Office in safe mode? 3rd-party Office addins may cause conflicts that interfere with Office's normal operations and running Office in safe mode will disable these.

There may be some conflict with the Firefox update but, as I don't use that app, I have no way of testing it. Even if I could, there's no guarantee my system (which is different to yours) would produce the same results.

Rather than reinstalling, which rarely fixes anything a repair won't, you might do better to use System Restore to return you system to the state it was in before the slow-down began.
