Do Restarts, because Windows (yes, even Windows 7) loves Restarts, particularly after a busy day of use; and yes, even as the first thing you do after your Windows based computer has hibernated over night—remember, you computer, as with your body, is still churning away at little things, or big things, such as with Windows being updated with M$ patches
Next, once a week (I like daily) to run Disk Clean-up (Start > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup) and guess what, do a Restart Once a week, I like to use the FREE Revo Uninstaller on programs I no longer need or want—I like to do this once a week while what these newly installed program do or was suppose to do are easier to remember—and again, I do a Restart Once a week, I also like to run the FREE CCleaner running both the Cleaner and Registry Cleaner—carefully noting (option selecting) what you clean in the Cleaner, because do you want your Cookies removed—I do yet another Restart, my point being with all these Restarts is to catch any mistakes I might make, early on, plus I want Windows to “digest” my changes Once a week, after all the above, I Defrag my hard drive; and naturally, M$’s Defrag sux, so I use a FREE 3d party Defragger, which among other things this Defragger speed things up by putting your most use programs on the outer part of your hard drive to pick up some added speed (every darn nanosecond counts, really J) – Yea, I do another Restart Finally, I like the FREE WinPatrol to keep tabs on what programs want to make changes to my computer AND controlling the ones wanting to be part of my Start-Ups, or alas, already are One of the best things about Windows 7 is how fast Restarts are—Use it and you will really hate Vista and even XP |
