Default Office update notice

Every time I open an Office product I get a yellow bar asking me to get the new office (I'm on 365). I have a stable machine and don't want to risk an update going wrong at the moment. (too often burnt in the past!) How do I get rid of this pesky message for good which is using my screen space.

Excellent Question, I hope someone can please please please answer this.

I do word programming for clients so I must maintain the same version of Word as they have. I have Office 365 2013 on one machine, and will eventually put 2016 on a separate machine. Every single time I open any office program and every single Word document, I get a yellow bar that says "GET THE NEW OFFICE It's one of the perks of having Office 365." - My only options are to close just that one instance of the bar, update, or "see what's new."

I cannot find a "I get it already, please stop harassing me, at least for now!" button. I went into my account and turned off office updates, but the message persists. Persistently.

I've searched the internet and found no mention. I only stumbled upon this message as I was about to post my own thread on the topic. Surely RodG and I can't be the only two people in the world who don't want to update right this minute...

See: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...1-65fcba9ac57d. Whether the processes described there actually work seems disputed.

Paul, thanks so much for responding and trying!

Unfortunately that did not work, although the "fixit" thing said it "fixed" the registry entry. Following the thread you provided, I also saw the recommended registry entry, but modifying it manually also had no affect.

I got an answer! Following Paul's link took me to another forum where this is being discussed and a chap named Chanklin just posted a new registry entry there that worked for me!

The thread (Answer is on page 2 toward the end): http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...7-1f363f286f93

Registry entry is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ ClickToRun\Updates
set the value to 0.

Ah, what a relief it is!
