Default Active Directory Domain Services is unavailable problem October 2015

I installed several Office 2010 updates last night (updates dated 10/13/15). I am currently running Windows 10 Home version. Since the updates were installed, I now receive the error: "active directory domain services is unavailable" when I try to add a printer in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Publisher. My HP Officejet printer is not coming up in the list of printers to choose from, and I can't add it. That said, the printer does show up in the Control Panel under view devices and printers. How do I fix this problem, so I can print again? Perhaps this is not an Office problem, but it has only occurred since installing the recent updates that are mostly Microsoft Office updates.
