Default Cursor skips to previous lines

In Word, Hotmail, etc., my cursor skips backward to previous lines, or skips to the left in the same line. It does this in the middle of words, as I am typing. It even did it as I was typing this message. Very annoying.

I found a previous thread that suggested there may be a compatibility issue between my wheel mouse and my touchpad, and it suggested turning off the touchpad on my laptop. But I can't figure out how to turn off the touchpad in Windows 7--there doesn't appear to be an option for doing this in Control Panel Device Manager.

Go to the web site of your mouse to see if there is a updated driver for your mouse (or any other object not working properly in Windows 7)

Also, check out the compatablity of whatever: select the object > Right Click > Properties > Compatablity > Select probability Vista or XP or what you were formerly
