Default Tips on Uninstalling/Reinstalling an Office Product

Why does my program still act weird even after I do an Uninstall/Install?

Microsoft is misleading with the term Uninstall

When you Uninstall a program the official way, remnants of the uninstalled program remains in the Window’s Registry
(This is why, for example, when you use a program during a Trial Period, Uninstalling it, then Reinstalling the program, the program knows you have already used your Trial Period)

WARNING: BEFORE YOU UNINSTALL A MICROSOFT PRODUCT MAKE SURE YOU CHECK TO SEE IF IT IS ALLOWED – Microsoft has various licensing agreements, so watch it

To Uninstall a Window based program—truly—you have to use a third party program such as the FREE Revo Uninstaller
This program shows you the programs installed, select the program, and then with the Wizard, it walks you through a COMPLETE true Uninstall

Note this: when asked, you must check ALL places parts of the program remaining in the Registry, then Select Uninstall them BEFORE you continue on

I also like to then run the FREE CCleaner to farther cleansed my Registry – When asked do you want any changes saved, do

When you are done be sure to do a Restart, because this is how Windows “digests” changes and updates even if NOT asked

This should be remembered, companies such as Microsoft, will “remember” you because you have registered with the company, so using Revo won’t keep the company from knowing what you are doing

How do I know if I should do an Uninstall/Reinstall of an Office Product?

Your program is acting weird or flakey, after say, a Microsoft Patch

Before you do an Uninstall/Reinstall, do a Restart – It is amazing what Restarts will do to make your computer run faster and programs work

If a Restart fails to solve your problem, then try to do a Restore back to a date just previous to this problem acting strange (Start > Search Restore or go to Help)

Only after failing these things should you do an Uninstall/Reinstall
