Do any of the office products have a scheduler? Basically something to schedule events and be reminded of the event prior to it happening?

Yes, you can use Outlook to set tasks or events and then set reminders for them.

My office package didn't come with Outlook; I use Outlook Express. Do you know if it has this same scheduling capability? |

Unfortunately Outlook express does not have any calendar. You could use Mozilla Sunbird instead and even better you can attach Mozilla Sunbird to Mozilla's email program Thunderbird with Mozilla Lightening.
