Reinstallation - Same Computer, Different Account
Have (actually "had") a laptop with Office 2013 Home & Student installed. Got a new laptop and gave my old laptop to my wife. I did a clean reinstall for her and set up the laptop using her Microsoft Account.
Now I cannot seem to activate Office using the original product code. The activation process wants to know the MS Account that was used to activate Office (mine). I exited the activation process at this point. I don't want to set up myself as another user on my wife's laptop. If I enter my account where asked, will it cause my account to be set up as another user? If so, any way to avoid this. Looking for suggestions? I thought Office was linked to a computer, not the user. I did a search and don't see where this has been addressed. Thanks. |

You should probably be doing the Office install from the Admin account, rather than a user account. Granted, you'll still be asked for the MS Account that was used to activate Office, but that shouldn't be cause for concern and I'd be surprised if you needed to create a user account on the laptop just for that.
