Default Office 2007 compatibility with Windows 8.1

Hi

We currently have a buggy Vista Ultimate desktop with (retail) Office Home and Student 2007 licensed for up to 3 PC's. We are in the process of upgrading to a new Windows 8.1 64 bit machine.

Can we install our 2007 Office Home and Student in a 64 bit desktop running Windows 8.1?
Or failing that, can we download a compatible version of Office Home and Student and use our product key?

Regards.

You should be able to install Office 2007, provided you first uninstall the 2013 trial which will inevitably arrive with your new PC.

Thanks for the reply gmayor.
I was a little concerned, there are a lot of net posts about people having problems with Office 07 in Win 8.1.

Am I correct in thinking that under the "up to 3pc's" aspect of the Office 07 license, any re-installs on one machine would be counted as one install?

The licence allows for the product to be activated concurrently on three PCs. It is fully transferrable. If necessary activate by telephone. Hold the line without interfacing with the buttons and wait for a human operator.
