have office 2003, installing 2010
Hi there. I'm no techie. I recently did a recovery on my lenovo laptop (long story). When I tried to open my documents, I got a message that I needed to use Office 2010 to open them now, even though my computer has Office 2003 and this was has the docs were saved originally. So now I have Office 2010 and want to install it. Do I have to remove 2003 first? Any other comments?

Office 2003 needn't be uninstalled before installing Office 2010. Office 2003 can also read the files created in later Office versions if you install the Office Compatibility Pack, thus potentially obviating the need for Office 2010. Do note, though, that Office 2003 is no longer supported and, even with the Office Compatibility Pack installed, can't access the newer features introduced by later office versions (e.g. content controls, citations & bibliographies).
