After awaking my sleeping computer at work, my open files are read only - how to stop this?
When I go home from work with documents open and the computer set to sleep when I log in the next day the open files have this error:
Word cannot establish a network connection with the document after the system resumed from suspend mode. Save the document into a different file to keep any changes. I can't save over the original file because it has become read-only and I can't find a way to disable that. The files of course are on a drive share hosted on the local network. The workstation boots up automatically at a set time each morning and is locked because my suspended session has resumed. I dislike having to save with a different name (add a character), delete the original and then correct the name. Is there a quicker way? |

This is most likely due to the way your network works and isn't something that Office can control. Quite possibly it has to do with the system need access to the files overnight for backup purposes. The best solution, of course, is to save & close your files at the end of each day.
