Default After awaking my sleeping computer at work, my open files are read only - how to stop this?

When I go home from work with documents open and the computer set to sleep when I log in the next day the open files have this error:

Word cannot establish a network connection with the document after the system resumed from suspend mode. Save the document into a different file to keep any changes.

I can't save over the original file because it has become read-only and I can't find a way to disable that.

The files of course are on a drive share hosted on the local network. The workstation boots up automatically at a set time each morning and is locked because my suspended session has resumed.

I dislike having to save with a different name (add a character), delete the original and then correct the name. Is there a quicker way?
