What release of a CTR version of Office 2013 is installed over the Internet?
When you install a click-to-run version of Office 2013 by downloading from the Internet, is the current release (currently 15.0.4569.1508) streamed to your PC straightaway? Or is some back level release installed initially, and this is then updated at some later date (that is, there are two lots of downloads).
I have the backup DVD for my version of Office 2013, but it contains the RTM level of code (15.0.4420.1017). So, if I can install the current release level straightaway by downloading from the Internet, I might choose that option rather than installing from the DVD. |

The most recent Click-to-Run release is version 15.0.4569.1508. See: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/offi...3-click-to-run

Thank you for the reply. However, I already knew about the Microsoft article that you referenced. I don't believe it answers my query.
All I believe the article is stating is that the most recent release of a click-to-run version of Office 2013 is 15.0.4569.1508. It is not stating that, if you install a click-to-run version of Office 2013 over the Internet from the My Account page on Office.com, you will get the most recent release straightaway. It is quite possible that you might get some back level release initially, even the RTM release, to which updates have to be streamed subsequently in order to bring it up to the most recent release level. |

I see no reason to suppose the version you download would be anything other than the current version, especially since that includes the SP1 updates. The versions are updated monthly and it is illogical to suppose MS would require users to download out-dated versions before providing them with the updates.

I agree entirely with the sentiments that you express. But I was really looking for confirmation - perhaps from someone who has inspected the release level immediately after installation had completed. I'm rather surprised that MS don't provide the information somewhere.
I ordered the backup DVD recently (January 2014), and I might have thought it equally illogical for MS to provide back level code on the DVD. But all I got was the RTM level of code, which dates back to October 2012. |
