Default File compression recommendation

Can anyone recommend a file compression software that doesn't make the recipient download the software in order to extract the file? Is that possible? Need to send a few people a really large PowerPoint presentation...

Thanks!!

Many compression software can create zip file which is supported by XP directly, I think you can use almost any popular compression software such as WinZip (Shareware), WinRAR (shareware) and 7-zip (freeware).
