Thank you - It worked perfectly!
We replaced my computer in the office with a newer (though used) computer. When my boss's son set it up for me he installed Office 2010 on it. In the process of finishing transferring everything over to the new computer, something went wrong and it wound up with the continual black screen on start-up. I wound up having to start from scratch and reinstall windows 7. When I went to reinstall Office 2010 again, it was then I got the message that the activation code had been used the maximum number of times. I found this forum and called that number. I proceeded to use the "phone call" option for activation and shortly into the automated phone call, it gave me the option of having the link sent to my cell via text to complete the process. I got the text, thus was able to end the phone call and completed the process via the smartphone option, which was simple and straightforward!
I did have to enter the number of times this license had been activated and I honestly didn't know what the answer was since I was not the one who purchased or installed it on anything until this point. I knew that it had at least been activated on this same computer, the first time the guy had set it up for me, so I just entered a "1" for the answer. |

Wow for Macropod being such a strong supporter of Microsoft. And yet the experiences of those who have experienced speak out...

Your point being? For example, on what basis would you claim Office 2003 to be compatible with Windows 10 when Microsoft says it isn't?

Reinstalling Office shouldn't require telephone activation unless you had changed some hardware. You should be able to use the original product key and automatic activation regardless of how many times you've activated it on the same platform.
Otherwise, you might try calling Microsoft Store Sales and Customer Support: 1800 267 785 Monday to Sunday: 6:00am - 9:00pm or Technical Support: 132 058

Huge Thank You for Office 2003 Activation technique
Thanks for posting the manual activation technique when automatic activation no longer works. I used the non-smart phone telephone activation. Of Note: Write down all the numbers before you advance to the next step of activation. There's no way to back up to record the numbers after you hit "Next" Then you have all the needed information for reloading if needed. I also found a back door into Microsoft Update to get the latest Service Pack download. After installing the SP, the standard Microsoft Update allowed the 2003 updates to proceed. I was very distraught at first when I though I bought software that couldn't be activated. Thanks again.

Activation of Microsoft products
I had to activate a recently discovered MS Office Professional Edition 2003. The internet option was not available and the phone activation, as stated in earlier posts, is no longer supported. However, after calling the UK freephone no; 08000188354, a recorded greeting asked what product I wanted to activate. I was then asked to input my mobile/cell no. and a text with instructions would be sent. I received this within a minute and after adding various codes, the installation was completed.

The (888) 652-2342 number worked for me to activate FrontPage 2003 in September 2017. However, there is a new wrinkle:
The phone recording offered to send the activation code to a smartphone; all you have to do is punch in your smartphone number. But what you get is not the activation code but a hyperlink. I went to the hyperlink, and it asked me to enter my 9-digit "Installation ID". I examined the activation dialog in FrontPage 2003 closely three times through and found no "Installation ID", nor any 9-digit number. Perhaps it used to be in the place where it now says that phone service is no longer supported. Anyway, the smartphone solution was a dead-end for me there, so I had to go back in and say no to that option. Then it worked fine the old way. |

Hi rsssnooker,
A colleague of mine was unable to activate his genuine copy of MS Office XP 2002 (bought on-line, May last year), he'd even contacted an on-line rep via the chat feature, only to be told that the product was no longer supported. The rep then suggested he try Office 365 (there's a free 30 day trial available). My colleague decided not to take up this"kind" offer and gave up. I found your post and the 08000188354 number then I visited my colleague and phoned the number; there are options for Windows Office and Other MS Product. I selected "Office" entered the Installation ID on the computer's screen- nine blocks of six numbers. A recorded voice said: "One moment please, while I check that out." (Baited breath while we waited for the outcome)..... Verified!!! Then had to enter seven blocks of six numbers (as gordonflemming suggested I wrote down the all the seven blocks of numbers of the Confirmation ID labelled A to G - after you click "Next" you won't be able to hear it again) - keeping a record of it means you can use it again in the future if you need to. So now he has Office XP activated on his computer. Thanks to all who contributed to this. I have to admit I'm surprised that I was able to sort this out especially as it's March 2018!!! And to think he was going to throw the discs in the dustbin. -Sam Last edited by Sam Olstory; 03-03-2018 at 08:54 AM. Reason: Spelling error |

It's August 2019 so if anyone is interested. For Office 2003 on Win XP, I just tried the US number given by GregL and everything went fine.
The process is completely automated and there are lots of chances to hear the numbers over again. |

Update from May 2021:
The activation number (888) 652-2342 still works! I was expecting it to not work as I recently had run into nothing but dead-ends when trying to activate Windows XP, so I was happily surprised it did. When I called, I responded with "It's something else" and "It's something else" before it started moving on with the Installation ID. Like others said, don't do the smartphone option and it'll do it over the phone with ample opportunity to repeat the numbers. I wanted to load up Office 2003 in a VM to re-experience Office before the Ribbon (although I also love the Ribbon), so I'm happy to be able to do so! Update December 11, 2021: STILL WORKS using the telephone # above. I have Office 2003 Student/Teacher which is good for 3 machines. Just rebuilt one of my XP's, and I also have a Win 10 running Office 2003 since Oct 2019. I just realized I must have visited this site at that time, and created an account to ask the same question. As someone observed above, it seems that the system must recognize a computer or hard drive identifier, because I never deactivated the sw prior to wiping the drive. This board is great! Oh - in my case it asked if I was installing Windows, then Office, and I said Yes. Then it gave me the option of smartphone, and I said No, and it continued with voice interaction.
