Default Excel Files Won't Open With Double Click

I recently refreshed my Windows (Clean Installation). I installed Office 2010 and everything seems to work smoothly but my Excel files won't open on double click. They open when I run Excel first and open the file using file menu. I don't know what to do. I use Windows 7 Ultimate by the way

I tried "Open With" but Excel is already there. Please help.

I have this problem as well with Office 2007 and Windows 8.1

As no one has replied to your post I assume the problem continues.

The message I get is "There was a problem sending the command to the program.

Happens if I double click on an email attachment or a file on the hard drive.
