how to download and install office 10 with a valid product key
I had a major upgrade to computer a few months ago. The shop installed
Office 10 Pro Plus. It is activated and has worked well until recently. I get frequent "cannot connect to server" pop up when working with Outlook. I have tried to do Repair, get a pop up that a file is missing. How can I download and reinstall the complete Office Suite? The Product key I have is: «Removed for privacy» All help is appreciated Thanks Last edited by macropod; 12-25-2013 at 11:26 PM. Reason: Product key removed for privacy |

Have you confirmed that there isn't a problem with your server connection? Simply downloading & reinstalling Office is unlikely to resolve any issues in that area. In any event, your computer shop should have supplied you with the Office installation media or, if it was a download, a backup copy.

I believe I've eliminated the server as causing the problem. the email account works properly with a second computer.
I purchased the software on-line and received the installation disk and product key by post. I installed with no problems, and activated. I have since found out that this is a Retail version distributed by an individual having apparently purchased a block of product keys for multiple installs. In fact, my purchase was for 2 installs which originally functioned OK. Tried to remove and reinstall only the Outlook app, now get message that file xxxx is missing. I now have the Office 10 Pro Plus suite with all app's except the one I use most! I emailed the person/vendor I purchased from, and as more or less expected, got no reply. I'm new at the forum business, so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks |

Regarding your licence, you can install/reinstall on the same PC as many times as you like; the '2' licences refers to how many computers you can install on (typically one laptop plus either another laptop or a desktop).
Regarding the missing file, how did you uninstall Outlook? You can download a backup copy from http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/pr...101853122.aspx, but you won't get any files that aren't on the installation disk you already have.

Reinstalled Office 10 after getting a new product key from my source. This did not correct the problem. My ISP, Suddenlink, stated that Outlook frequently has problems
such as this. Strange, never had it before appx a month ago. Oh Well. Office is up again and is activated. Thanks for your input(s). |

Thanks much. I have reinstalled Office, has a couple of quirks to be resolved.
No options for replying to messages. I'll check out the tips. Later: Something strange going on here. Ran Repair application for Office due to no Help Files after pressing F1. After Repair, the missing Reply options are now available, still no Help files. Get a popup "There is a problem with one or more of your installed help files. Please Repair your Office installation and try again". This could go on and on. I can't imagine a repair being needed right after the fresh installation unless somehow or other the installation information is coming from the Web and is different from that on the install disk. I attempted the reinstall earlier using the info one post had, using the key I had, and got message that version I had is not eligible for free download. From what I can see, the installation disk I have is an ICO image. I have stopped and started Office a few times since the fresh install. It seems to be connecting to the server now, but there is an instantaneous glitch visible when connecting. Thanks to everyone who helped. I may be back if more problems occur. |
