Excel indicates missing SKU111.CAB file
Hello, I am utterly confused, because a few days ago I was able to open EXCEL and even updated a file. Today, when I tried to open EXCEL again, it was trying to install and gave a "SKU111.CAB" missing file message and requested that I put my MS Office CD to find the missing file. I did that, but it didn't like the CD I put in, because it kept asking me for the CD.
In any case I had backed up my data and went looking for the file and cannot find it there either. I don't know what caused that file to be deleted from my system. Strange!!! Would be interested in an explaination, if one exists. In any case, the MS Office version I have is "XP Small Business version 2002." I hope I don't have to uninstall all the MS Office applications and then reinstall them. What a pain that would be . Please help... P.S. Can someone send me a copy of the file and tell me where to copy it? Of, better yet can I get that file from the Microsoft site? Thanks... |

Have a look at this page: http://eal.us/blog/GeekStuff/_archiv...20/268860.html
It suggests a possible reason that you added a new user, then used a wrong disk. Did you install Excel use the disk before? The installed Excel and your installation disk may not be the same version, which is the most common reason for this kind of errors. |

Hi, Thank you for a quick response. Regarding your questions--- Yes,I did see the article. It doesn't help me, because my version is 2002 not 2003. Also, I did the EXCEL install via the same install CD, so there shouldn't be any mismatch.
Hope there is another answer(s). BTW, I came across this potential problem. If and when I do get the file, does nyone konw where that file is to be copied to? |

The file is supposed to be at the CD's base directory. Maybe you have to make a CD (or use an emulation software).
It's easier to just reinstall Excel, IMO. |

I had the same problem
I fixed mine by performing a system restore. My thoery was that the problem resulted from a partial uninstall of Acrobat Reader, so I did a restore to a date before the software was installed.

Thanks for sharing your solution, Mr. Malik.
This problem seems quite common, hundreds of visitors came here by searching "SKU111.CAB". |
