2010 Office Pro over top of 2003 Office Pro
Would it be best to load 2010 Office Pro over top of 2003 Office Pro. Or delete 2003 and then load 2010. I bought the 2010 a couple of years ago but was always chicken to load it. I am using Win 7 Pro and it has been working GREAT. But now I get too many things that will not always open in 2003.

You can use both versions if you wish, without uninstalling Office 2003. When installing different Office versions, you should always install the older version first, so that part's already taken care of. If you do decide to uninstall Office 2003, Office 2010 should pick up any Office 2003 customizations you had, as those files don't get deleted.

Things did NOT turn out the I or we would have liked it too. The Office 2010 installed just fine but would not or could not ACTIVATE.I call MS and they said the "key" was valid and good............and for $99.00 they would remotely fix the problem in my computer. I reminded them that it is not a problem with my computer, it was the ACTIVATION problem. So after 4 phone calls, I get a phone back late last night from a higher level supervisor (no doubt outsourced) a really nice man and he explained to me that the Key, Software was good BUT has to used on a corporation server and is not for home use. It is made to be used on (up to) 10 computers. And also it had been limited out............so the bottom line is a I but a bogus piece of software. NOW this was purchased (I can't remember when) about 12 - 18 months ago and sat on the shelf until yesterday. Although I am not happy about it, Microsoft was REALLY NICE about it all and did try to sell me other software.....but for only ONE computer and our house ahs 4 computers. Maybe that's what caught my eye when I purchased it and missed the other FINE print (

I wouldn't have thought that a multi-user licence pack would have restrictions preventing its installation on a stand-alone PC. I also don't know what you mean by "it had been limited out". If you hadn't hung onto it for so long, you might have been able to return it to the place of purchase as being unsuitable, but I doubt you'd get very far with that now. Still, it might be worth a try (they may exchange for Office 2010 Home & Student, which allows installation on up to 3 PCs in the same household)

I looked through my online receipts and that had to have been an item that came without a receipt. So I am out.....but I will look for a student somewhere who might be able to get a copy of the MS Office Student.

You shouldn't need to "look for a student somewhere", which doesn't sound legit anyway. You don't have to be a student to buy Office Home & Student, though you might find Office 365 Home Premium (with its 5-licence support and Outlook) better suited to your needs.

365 most likely would be the way to go, but since I SOld the business and properties we don't really use Office much any more. But when we do, we use Access, Excel, Word & Powerpoint (very little). 365 I $99.00 a year....I guess I am anal with a subscription. As you can tell with my Office 2003....go 10 years out of it. Although I have found and seen Office 2010 with all of the option for 3 PC's and less than $200.00. But my 2003 still works well. I just Googled and found a conversion program that runs separately to convert the new Excel files.
