Window Appears Larger Than Screen
I made some adjustments and now the window is larger than the screen so I have to move it around to see everything. For example, I'm looking at Word right now and I cannot see the complete tool or the edge of the window that thas the scroll bar. How can I get it to fit to the screen by default?

I'm not sure. But now I must always move the whole window around to see all the controls. Any quick and dirty fix to just match the Word window to the screen?

You could try maximising the application window. Counter-intuitive though this may seem, it will re-size it to fit the screen. You will still need to re-do the 'Normal' view so it fits within the screen. You do this by dragging the handles that appear when you move the mouse over a window border.

Maximizing window
I would prefer to not have to do anything. At this job, we go from one Word document to another - sometimes dealing with 10 different Word documents in the course of an hour. I just want the Word window to "fit" by default. My goal is to have every thing set so that when I open a document, it is good to go and easy to work with.

In that case, you shouldn't have messed with it. If you've repositioned/resized various application windows so they're no longer on screen, then its up to you to fix that if it's not the permanent setup you want. It seems to me you want Windows to be able to tell that some window repositioning/resizing is temporary and others are permanent. If you want that sort of functionality, see: http://www.desksoft.com/WindowManager.htm

Paul,
I work for the Federal Government in a division that has pretty high security. We cannot add software or applications to our computers. We have Microsoft Office Version 14.0.6123.5001 (32-bit) or MS Office Professional Plus 2010. I was hoping someone on this forum would understand the problem and be able to give me a fix using the options in Microsoft Office. Again, the window are not fitting on the screen. I'm sure there is some option that can be set so that when I open a window in Word or Excel, it fits on the screen and I don't have to jocky around to see all the tabs. Given enough time, I'll figure it out - but I was hoping for a quick answer from "the experts." |

The "experts" aren't sitting at your computer and don't know what you've done because you haven't said what that is...

This issue has not been solved. I would try maximizing the application window but I'm not sure what that means. The problem is that the window (in Word and in Excel) is larger than the screen. I should note that I use two separate screens so that I can, for example, look at an Excel sheet on one screen and write about it using Word on another screen. I'm not sure what I did to cause this issue - no way of knowing without having a log of every adjustment I've made over the last month. I do know that another problem, which may or may not be related is as follows...I used to be able to open two Word documents and move one to one screen, while keeping the other on the first screen. Now, I can't seem to seperate the documents. At first, this was only occuring with Excel. I temporary solved that by opening the second Excel doc from the icon but that does not seem to be working now...
Gotta get back to work.. |

It's possible that you have altered the size by changing the figure in the size box on the bar where all the icons are near the top. Look at this and compare it with what's in the boxes in other documents. They may not be the same.
