Hi. I work in IT in the Print and Design sector and installed a PC for a client recently.
To cut a long story short he downloaded some Malware, did a system restore and its screwed up all his programs. Office wouldnt run so he removed it. Now when he trys to go to the web address on the product key card to download it again it is telling him he hasnt got it installed and would he like to purchase it (again) I think perhaps he has to log in to whatever account they created when they initially downloaded the software, is that correct? Neither he or I can remember setting up an account. It looks like I am going to have to go out on Monday, restore the PC to factory settings and start again. Am I going to run into problems re-installing Office? Clearly it will need to be downloaded again. It doesnt seem to have left a set up file in the downloads folder (unless its stored somewhere else). Im just looking for a heads up as I need to resolve this quickly. There used to be a number to call for MS for activations but trying to find any useful advice and support from Microsoft these days is an uphill struggle. The OS is Windows Pro 64 bit. Many thanks Barry |

Depending on the restore point chosen, and whether the user chose 'run' instead of 'save' when obtaining the Office 2013 install files, the system restore may have erased the downloaded files.
It may also be that the 'purchase' option allows one to input the product key at some stage during the process without having to fork out more money. Having not been though the process, though (I'm staying away from Office 2013, at least till the bugs are ironed out), I can't say whether that's actually the case. If it's not, that suggests the wrong procedure is being used or isn't being followed correctly (or maybe it has its own bugs ...).
