Default office 2007 and windows 8

My old laptop took a dump and I was forced to buy a new one with windows 8.
I want to use my Office 2007 on the new PC and have installed it but every time I go to open a document I get a screen asking me to activate office 2013. How do I eliminate this so my old version of office will be the default?

ps. I hate Windows 8 but it seems I'm stuck with it.

You should uninstall Office 2013 before installing Office 2007. If you decide you want to run both, you must (re)install Office 2013 after installing Office 2007.
