Default Autosave configuration question

I have an Active Directory and a Novell domain running concurrently. Users are accessing shared drives on Novell servers with a specific shared user account.

The user creates a file under ther name in there Windows box with an Active Directory account owner. They are accessing these shared drives with another user. When Word goes to autosave, it is popping up with an error like it cannot find the file every minute and is popping open the CD tray. I changed the GPO information for default by disabling the GPO feature.

Is this happening because one user is creating the file and another is being used to autosave?
