Configuration Issues with both Office 2000 and Office 2010
I have three computers where I have both Office 2000 and Office 2010 installed. On two of them I am having no problems with their functioning. (I am using a Vista Home Premium platform for all three.)
However, on the third computer (Vista's 64-bit version), I am encountering the following problems: When I open Word 2000 I receive a message that says "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Premium 2000." This is followed by "An error occurred and is no longer functioning properly. Please run Setup and select Repair." However, Word 2000 then opens normally. On shut-down, a message appears that says "Microsoft Word has stopped working." I have no problem in opening or closing Excel 2000. When I open Word 2010 I receive the following message: "Please wait while Setup prepares the necessary files." A Configuration Process screen then appears, which says: "Configuring Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010." Some 60 seconds later Word is loaded. I have no problem in opening Excel 2010. I am not sure why both Office systems co-exist on two of my computers, but not on the third. I had no problems with Office 2000 before loading Office 2010. Gordon Biggar Houston, Texas |
