Default MS Word Security

I've just loaded Office 2010. Is it possible to Password the application to prevent others even opening Word? Tx.

This can be done by creating Windows user accounts that lack the permission the run the Word application, and not letting the restricted users have access to user accounts that do have that permission (ie password-protect those accounts). This is not so much an Office issue as a Windows issue. The Word application does not have its own program password system.
