Default Initializing folders to save

When I go to save a file from any of the 2007 Office apps and I click on the down arrow to change drives it comes back with a window that says something to the effect that it is initializing the folders in order to be read. If I save the file right away in the default location there is no delay. This can take upwards of 5 minutes to get the window to open and then if I need to change folders once I get to the right drive it is another wait.

I have a C & D internal hard drives and I also use an external 320GB external drive. It matters not if this is connected, it is always the same.

I have hunted for a solution but can't seem to find one. This only happens to Office applications. I use several other applications and they all find the folders and/or drives right away.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

This is usually caused by mapped network drives. Disconnect all of them, or remap them if the network path has been changed.
