Default Diagnostics won't run

I have both Office 2007 and 2010 installed on my Windows 7 Dell i5 Laptop.

For various reasons I need to have both versions installed and working properly.

Office 2007 PowerPoint does not properly display text animations - they are jerky at best and at worst, they hang up.

I have tried to run the Diagnostics to do a repair on the office suite, but I keep getting a message that I do not have sufficient permissions, even though I am running the Administrator account on the computer (in fact, this is the only user account on the computer).

For the same reason the system will not allow me to uninstall or repair from the Control Panel. I have tried reinstalling from the original disks, but because a newer version is on the computer I can't reinstall.

Can anyone offer solutions to either getting the Diagnostics to run...or another way to get PowerPoint 2007 performing properly.

Hi SR,

Your description suggests there are some fundamental installation issues with the Office installations that need to be resolved. Did you install Office 2007 first? When using multiple Office versions, always start with the oldest, installing each newer version in order until you've installed the newest.

Even so, since you're unable to manage the installations via the Windows Control Panel, I suspect you'll need to kill both installations and start over. To do this, see:
