Default Mail Merge for Labels Problem

I'm trying to create a mail merge for labels which i have done a million times before however for some reason at the moment when im selecting the data from the existing list, the mail merge is giving me a whole label page for each record (215) with the record being in label one, its then giving me the next 5 records in the remaining 5 labels. its never done this before and i cant see how to fix it, ive even tried rebooting the machine but nothing is working.

Help!

Hi Debz,

Is your mailmerge main document just a single page of labels with mergefields in each? And do all except the first label have a «NextRecord» field at the start?

It is when i start the document but the minute I ask it to use an existing list it gives me a page of 6 labels for each record with the record in label 1 top RHS, then the next 5 records in the list to fill the other 5 labels.

Never had this happen before and i use mail merge alot,

Would it help if i saved and emailed it to you?

Your help is much appreciated

Thanks Debz

Hi Debz,

You haven't really answered either of the questions from my previous post. I also don't understand what you mean by "It is when i start the document but the minute I ask it to use an existing list it gives me a page of 6 labels for each record". Perhaps you could explain exactly what steps you're going through to create the mailmerge/use main document.

Ok to answer your questions directly,

no its not 1 page of labels its giving me 215 pages with 1 record on each page.

And yes all labels apart from the first label have a next record field.

The process im using to create the mail merge is the same as i always use,

1/First i go to start mail merge, select labels, then pick the label type im using.

2/Then i go to select reciepients, and use an existing list, find the table im using and select it.

3/Then in the first label i set up the address block, using the address block button, then update records.

On my previous post I was trying to explain that when at stage 1 I have 1 page of labels after stage 2 I have 215 pages of labels

Hi Debz,

I'm not sure where your process might be going wrong, but see: http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_labels_with_word_xp.htm

FWIW, I'm travelling with only limited internet access, hence the delay in replying.
