Default Growing Filter List

I am creating a set of mailing labels with MS Office Home and Student 2010. The data is from an Excel 2010 spreadsheet. The labels (30 per page) are formatted in a Word 2010 document. The labels are sorted and selected in Word by a Mailings “Edit Recipient List” “Mail Merge Recipients” using Sort and Filter criteria. The resulting labels are exactly as wanted.

But every time I close (and save) the Word file, the next time open the Word file the Filter list grows by one or more fields.

For example, if I use the Filter:

xxxxxxx Not equal to 1
And yyyyyy Is Blank

The next time the Word file is opened the Filter list grows by an additional entry:

xxxxxxx Not equal to 1
And yyyyyy Is Blank
And yyyyyy Is Blank

How can I keep the Filter list from continually growing?

Hi rbdmg,

Does this affect all mailmerge documents, or only one? If it's the latter, that suggests there's something odd about the particular document. If it's all mailmerge documents, check that your Word installation is fully updated.

Other than that, you might get better results using SKIPIF fields instead of the filter.
