Need some help with building a mail merge document.
Hi,
I'm building a mail merge document which uses a SQL database. I want to be able to give the file to someone, so that when they open it, it will do the mail merge and give them the final document. I set it up with a SQL datasource. I also included a macro in the Normal file, which on Open, does a Finish & Merge, and closes the original document. This seems to work when I test it on my machine. I saved it as a macro-enabled Word document. But when I give the file to someone else to run, there are 2 problems. 1. It asks for a datasource. 2. It cannot find my macro definition (the function I put in the Normal file). Does the datasource get included in the docm file? Or is the datasource definition separate from the document? Does the Normal file get included in the docm file, or is it always local to the current user? Thanks. |

one problem solved
I solved the 2nd problem by putting the code to do Finish/Merge directly into the document instead of into Normal.dot.
So now, how do I include the sql datasource definition into the docm file? |
