Mail merge number fields outputting inconsistently
Hello
I'm trying to complete an email mail merge where some of the fields have telephone numbers in. The data source is an Excel spreadsheet. I've formatted the telephone merge fields in the following format \# "0000 000 0000". The telephone numbers output correctly for some of the telephone numbers but not for all the records. For example some output as 0000 000 4642 which is incorrect. The phone numbers are all in the same format in the Excel spreadsheet I am using. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can correct this? Thanks R |

Hi Rekcots,
What do you get when you output the problem fields without the switch? I suspect you'll find that, in Excel, some have been input as text, with the formatting as part of the input data, whereas other have been input as numbers with the formatting applied via Excel's formatting tools.

Hi Paul
Thanks for the explanation. You were right as not all cells were in the same format. I've converted them to text and the merge output is working now. Thanks for your help, R |
