Default Getting COMException Incompatible file type and file extension

Hello

We have a Office automation project and use Mail Merge to populate document templates
So for the templates type we return back the file type and it works great in Office 2007, but in office 2010 it gives

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException:Incomp atible file types and file extension.

CaseWordDocFormat.DOT ReturnWordDocFormat.DOC
CaseWordDocFormat.DOTX ReturnWordDocFormat.DOCX
CaseWordDocFormat.DOTM ReturnWordDocFormat.DOCM

Has anything changed the way Office 2010 saves the documents for tempaltes?

I would appreciate if anyone can please give me any suggestions of how to resolve this issue.
