Hi rene,

OK, you make a new Word template, with mergefields in it. I assume this has a '.dot' extension and, when the user double-clicks on the template, that creates a new mailmerge main document.

So far all the user has is a mailmerge main document, with all the mergefields in place. The user then needs to click on the 'Merge' or 'Finish & Merge' buttons to execute (finish) the merge. Only then will the fields update correctly. What the user will then get is a mailmerge output document with all (or however many they choose) records from the database.

If that is not what you want and, instead, you want to give the user a template with only one merge record in it, then you need to finish the merge and output only the one record that you require. It is the merged output document, not the mailmerge main document you've been working with, that you then save as the template.

The user clicks in GINO on the template description, GINO opens a field in wich it fils the (by me defiend) fields; then opens Word en there is the end result.

OK, but until someone clicks on the 'Merge' or 'Finish & Merge' buttons to execute (finish) the merge, all you will have is a mailmerge main document with fields, not a mailmerge output document and, until then, you can't expect the fields to update correctly.

Hi Paul,

Execute the merge happens after filling in GINO; the system than turns automaticley to MS Word output document. I thing that i set my settings which you probited not good. This is how i put it right now:

Aan {MERGEFIELD "Client_teanaamstelling"}#
{MERGEFIELD "Client_PA_teanaamstelling\f "#
"}{MERGEFIELD "Client_PA_adres"}#
{MERGEFIELD "Client_PA_postcode"} {MERGEFIELD "Client_PA_woonplaats"}#
{MERGEFIELD "Client_PA_land"}.

Where # is paragraph end.

Hi Rene,

OK, after the merge has executed , if «Client_PA_tenaamstelling» has data, you should see:
Aan Client_tenaamstelling data
Client_PA_tenaamstelling data
Client_PA_adres data
Client_PA_postcode data Client_PA_woonplaats data
Client_PA_land data

If «Client_PA_tenaamstelling» is empty, you should see:
Aan Client_tenaamstelling data
Client_PA_adres data
Client_PA_postcode data Client_PA_woonplaats data
Client_PA_land data

If that does not work, then there is another way that might work, with the same field layout:
• First delete the \f "#" switch from the «Client_PA_tenaamstelling» field, so that it goes back to being '{MERGEFIELD "Client_PA_teanaamstelling}', then press F9 to update. You should now see «Client_PA_tenaamstelling» again.
• Second, select the «Client_PA_tenaamstelling» field and make a copy of it, so that you have «Client_PA_tenaamstelling» «Client_PA_tenaamstelling»
• Third, select both fields and press Ctrl-F9, so that you get { «Client_PA_tenaamstelling» «Client_PA_tenaamstelling» }
• Fourth, fill in/around these fields so that you get {IF«Client_PA_tenaamstelling»<> "" "«Client_PA_tenaamstelling»¶
"}, then press F9 to update.
Now try running your merge process, remembering to not just preview it but to complete it via Finish & Merge.
