Default Issues with mail merge/header & footer formatting

Hi

I work for a secondary school, and our management have indicated that they want our student reports to go out as a double-sided document, with a so-called ‘pedagogy wheel’ illustration on the reverse page. The report incorporates a header which should only appear on the first page. In addition, fields containing both positive and negative behaviour points should appear at the bottom of the page.

I’ve attached a screenprint displaying the header/footer setup for the Word mail merge template that I’m hoping to use. For some reason beyond my comprehension I cannot get the line containing the positive/negative behaviour points to appear at the bottom of page 1, even though I’ve reduced the footer margin to zero. Is there something obvious I’m missing that needs to be done to ensure this happens?

Very many thanks in anticipation of your assistance.

The size set for header and footer is a minimum that is reserved when typing in the body. Anything placed in either can push text in the body out of the way. The maximum is approximately the page size.

I will look at your document and write back.

Without actually seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. It could be something as simple as a paragraphs formatted with the 'keep with next' attribute or having too much 'before' spacing or loo large a line spacing.

Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You can do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

Hi

Just to let you know I’ve resolved the issue. It was quite simple in the end, a process of trial and error. I removed the pedagogy wheel image, tabbed the positive/negative points image to where I wanted it to be at the bottom of page 1; and pasted the pedagogy wheel image back onto page 2. The merge works as intended now.

Many thanks for your contributions with this issue.
