How to Mail Merge with coloured text
Hi,
I have a problem that I hope someone will be able to give me instructions to solve fairly easily. I have coloured text in a spreadsheet, which I need to also be coloured in the mail merged Word doc. However, the mail merged document text is coming out in the default black text, when it is red/blue/green in the spreadsheet. Is there a simple work around that will keep the coloured text in the mail merged Word document? Thanks for looking! |

Set the merge document type to normal word document.
Select Word Options > Advanced > General > Confirm file format conversion on open. Then when you re-attach the data source to the mail merge main document, you will be given the option of selecting the connection type. Check 'Show all' and pick the option to connect to Excel using the DDE method of connection which should read the data as you have it formatted in the table. Do however note that DDE can be somewhat unreliable and normally is best avoided.

Hi,
Thanks for answering. I have already connected to Excel using the DDE method and the text isn't mail merged in the same colour as what shows on the Excel file. I hadn't set the Word doc to normal word document but when I did change it, it made no difference. Thanks for looking though. |

It may be possible to use a macro to provide the colouring, but that would depend on what conditions determine the colour of the data. You can run a macro from
